Het Kleinste Huis is a real hidden gem for tea lovers. It’s located in a house just 2.02 meters wide and 5 meters deep, which is part of its charm. The two floors of the house are filled with an incredible array of teas – from classic black and green teas to exotic blends you won’t find anywhere else. Besides the tea, the shop also sells lovely gifts, including tea accessories and trinkets that make for great souvenirs. With space for only 5 visitors at a time, it provides an intimate experience and the chance to really enjoy the aroma and warmth of your tea in a quiet setting.

Why should you visit this store? If you’re a tea enthusiast, Het Kleinste Huis offers a wonderful mix of rare teas and a quirky, intimate atmosphere. It’s a perfect stop if you’re looking for a unique souvenir or simply want to take a break from sightseeing in a peaceful, unusual spot.

The nicest part about this store is the novelty of being in Amsterdam’s tiniest house, which adds a fun twist to the experience. It’s also a calm space to relax, especially if you’ve been busy sightseeing. The downside is that the space is very small, and it’s a bit cramped when there are other visitors. It’s worth noting that because the house is so small, it’s best to visit during off-peak hours, like early mornings or weekdays. You can easily spend 20 minutes here sipping tea and exploring the small, but interesting, selection of gifts.

Het Kleinste Huis is located just a short 5-minute walk from New Market. Walk towards Oudezijds Voorburgwal and then Dam Square and you’ll pass this charming and unusual tea shop. It’s the perfect spot for a little break during your explorations of the area.

About This Area

THE OLD CHURCH & NEW MARKET

This area, called de Oudezijds or Old Side, is indeed the oldest part of town. It was built before the Golden Age (17th century) and the famous Canal Belt. The church standing in the middle has something peculiar about it. It is the oldest building in the city, so it seems quite understandable that it is now called Oude Kerk (Old Church). Not all streets and canals in this area are suitable for children, avoid the so-called Red Light District.
