The most expensive street in the Dutch Monopoly game has many international stores. Visit the Lego flagship store halfway down. And have a stroopwafel at Van Wonderen (look for colourful hot air balloons in the window display) on the corner of Heilige Weg. Their cookies are not cheap but taste really good.

The best part of Kalverstraat is its vibrant mix of stores, offering something for everyone in the family. While the street can get busy, especially on weekends, it’s still worth the visit. You’ll want to spend anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours, depending on how many shops you plan to explore. To avoid the crowds, try visiting early in the morning or on weekdays.

Kalverstraat starts on Dam Square and runs all the way down to Mint Square.

About This Area

DAM SQUARE

This square, originally built as a dam in the Amstel River, is the heart of Amsterdam. Most roads in the old city center lead here, the canal belt is built as a semi-circle around it. You’ll find the Royal Palace and the National Monument, and it marks the beginning of Kalverstraat, the city’s largest shopping street. It can get really busy here.
